We heard this past week that the Arts Council has awarded us a grant for not only the artistic costs of publishing our recovery anthology, A Wild and Precious Life, but also for A Wild and Precious Mentoring Programme (WPMP), which will enable four of our writers to develop their careers. This is such good news. ACE have simply been ACE in supporting this important project and I can’t believe we will soon have a copy of our book in our hands. We do still need help raising the last of the funds, though, so please make a pledge for the book if you can. We have an introduction by Will Self, and essays by Kerry Hudson (of Lowborn fame), Michele Kirsch (Clean) and John O’Donoghue, as well as some really talented emerging writers and total beginners. The writing – both prose, nonfiction and poetry – is vital, compelling and raw. The book, with Unbound behind it, is going to be beautiful.
